Appreciating the motive of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, World Bank has assisted the project in the form of basic education project, which had been undertaken in the year of 1933, for the enhancement of eminent basis education in the entire state. A society, named as "Uttar Pradesh Sabhee Ke Liye Shiksha Pariyojana Parishad (U.P. Education for all Project Board) have been evolved for the smooth operation of this educational project on 17 May, 1993, which was registered under societies registration act of 1860.
The project of basic education was started in 1993 which was implemented in 17 districts. This project was accomplished in the year of 2000. The District Primary Education Programme-II was introduced in the year of 1997, which was applied in twenty two districts of the UP state and which accomplished in the year of 2003. Furthermore, DPEP-II was introduced in thirty two districts of the UP state in the year of 2000 and were accomplished in the year of 2006, 31st march.
One of the well know project “janshala” was introduced in lucknow district during the year of 2000-2003.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) was introduced within the state and applied in sixteen districts in the year of 2001-2002 and now till now it covers all 70 districts of the UP state.
Prior to year 1972, the upper primary and major schools in the state of U. P. were run, controlled and maintained by municipalities furthermore by regional board as well as urban corporations etc. composed under diverse acts which are related to administration of “LOCAL BODIES” i.e.

Uttar Pradesh Kshetra Samiti and Zila Parishad Adhiniyam, 1961.
Taking into consideration of urgent requirement to perk up literacy rate in UP state, many authorities felt that edification needed intended interventions from Uttar Pradesh government. Taking this in consideration, Uttar Pradesh government had passed the “uttar pradesh basic education act” in the year 1972 (Uttar Pradesh Act Number 34 of year 1972).
The foremost aim of this particular act is to systematize; control along with co-ordinate the communication of basic edification in discipline other than high-schools or even intermediate colleges. Under this Act, a sovereign Body named which is named as "uttar pradesh board of basic education” was comprised under able guidiance & chairmanship of Director for Basic Education. All schools as well as colleges which were managed as well as controlled by any local bodies were transferred under control of the Board. The Basic Education Board controls appointment, posting and transfer of school teachers, decides school timings along with gives identification to other new or previously existing private schools communicating basic edification in Uttar Pradesh.
